Over Unity Case Study

February 28, 2011 from paul0v2's blog

In this case study you can see step-by-step how Chris Haines created the cover design for Cover Unity - Collide the Space EP. The artwork is a mix of 3D elements with photoshop touch ups, you can see it on videos and the steps in image. Check it out!

It was a long process to finish this artwork, however it was well worth the effort.
Hopefully the imagery matches the epic 8 minute plus songs on the record.

Illustrator Quick Tips #1 - Complex Symbols with Pathfinder
Last week I posted an article showing some great logos using 3D effects and colorful gradients. There are quite a few ways to do create those effects in Illustrator, however for most of them you will have to use the Pathfinder tools. Because of that I will show you an example based on a few logos from that list. References When I was looking for references for a logo design project that I'm still working on, I selected some awesome logos. Below you can see some of them. Wallpaper of the Week #120 by Abduzeedo
The wallpaper of this week is an image I created for a tutorial for Digital Arts Magazine. The idea was to play around with some light effects, colorful but very subtle with a little bit of 80's style in it. The tutorial will be available pretty soon, however you can start using the wallpaper, I'm using it on my iPad and iPhone and it looks awesome. Desktop Version

Book Suggestion - Poke the Box
The book of this week is Poke the Box. Written by Seth Godin, Poke the Box is very inspiring and motivating about initiating and shipping. It makes you think about so many things and makes you want to make things happen. If you're stuck at the starting line, you don't need more time or permission. You don’t need to wait for a boss’s okay or to be told to push the button; you just need to poke.
