Powerful Subversive Illustrations by Dave MacDowell

July 02, 2010 from PauloGabriel's blog

Don't be fooled by the colorful happiness of these this paintings. Many of these are totally subversive, and they totally rock. It's counter-culture illustration at its best.

The man behind these is Dave MacDowell, an artist with strong views, and as far as it goes, he wants to tell your canned culture sucks. He's an amazing artist with great pieces of work, subversive or not... but I do love his message. This is something of you kids to think about. A lot of what you see from the tube is pure brainwash material. Turn off your tv and your video game, go read a good book. Seriously. ;)

Hell of Tutorial in Photoshop
A few days ago I took sometime to try some tutorials I read such as the really cool Dramatic Text on Fire Effect in Photoshop by Collis from PSDTUTS, and put some 3D typography ideas into practice. My idea was to create a 3D text with fire coming from the inside of the document like a hole. Step 1 The first thing you will have to do is create the 3D text. To do that you can use Illustrator. It has a very nice 3D filter and it will work just fine.
