Surfing the net with your hands and mouth

October 21, 2009 from Francisco's blog

I've seen some pretty cool Flash sites out there but I think this one has to be one of the most innovate. Web designer Andreas Lutz has created his portfolio site using Flash and utilizing your computer's webcam and microphone to let you surf his site without need for a mouse. You use your hands to make gestures that the webcam tracks and you can use speech. It's freakin' amazing!

When you go onto the site all you first have to do is some simple calibrations and then you're ready to start speaking and waving your hands to surf his site. He created a cool video to show you how it works. (See below)

And here's his site: http://www.andreaslutz.com/

The wallpaper of this week is concept art created by Justin Maller for Nike Kobe Bryant. The artwork mixes a photo of Kobe with abstract 3D renders and photos of snakes. It reminds me the Medusa from the new Clash of the Titans movie.

Book Suggestion: Scripts: Elegant Lettering from Design's Golden Age
The book suggestion of this week is a very inspiring one for those in love with vintage typography, it's called Scripts: Elegant Lettering from Design's Golden Age. It's definitely a book for when you need some extra motivation and inspiration. About the book Elegant, quirky, fluid, brutish, ostentatious— a visual resource of cursives and other typefaces that resemble handwriting.
