We hoped that you have been enjoying our gift guides from the past week, let's keep the holiday spirit alive with another guide. But this time, we will stay away from the tech stuff and focus on books! With the holidays knocking at the door, it will be a great moment to enjoy a nice book next to a fireplace? In all seriousness, it's always good to go back to the basics for a change, we spend a crazy amount of time on our smartphones. Let's leave it on the coffee table for a change. I have to admit that I wish I was reading more books this year, it's on my things to do more for 2018. Hope you will enjoy this list! It's my turn! As you may have noticed this week, the team over Abduzeedo is sharing their picks for the holiday gift guide. It's our interesting spin for 2017 so you get to see a little bit of everything from each one of us. In case you've missed it, you can check out the gift guides from Fabio and Ibby currently live on the blog. For my guide, you will mostly find tech stuff that I've had the opportunity to play with and review for ABDZ, there is some pending reviews that will either be published by the end of this year or in the beginning of 2018. It's quite a busy time of the year but it's never too late to make that one someone happy. One little smile is enough to cheer you up. Here is my list and hopefully this will be useful anyhow. More Links Follow my tweets @aoirostudio Follow my pictures on Instagram Gift Guide 2017 My Best Tech of 2017 My first drone and I think it's the best purchase for beginners! The review is coming soon on the blog and I have been having so much fun with this thing. It's small enough that you can carry it in your backpack anywhere. It takes about 1 minute to setup for a flight. And I mostly use it as a tool for photography and to be able to capture a different perspective and it's definitely a must for me. You can check out a few of my pictures via my Instagram @aoirostudio. DJI Spark (Fly More Combo) Phone For being a Google Pixel user for over a year now, it's definitely on my wishlist getting the Pixel 2. We all have our criteria for the perfect phone and for me, it's all about having the best camera. I heard nothing but amazing things about the Pixel 2 and I do believe Google definitely shine while making the best experience of the software. It's really cool seeing more designers making the switch to the Pixel 2, Android has made tremendous changes over the last few years. It's certainly worth the try. Pixel 2 Headphone We have reviewed the AIAIAI TMA-2 on ABDZ and it's still in my opinion the best headphone I have ever had. With the zero-logo minimal design approach, this headphone is comfy, amazing sound and modular. The AIAIAI TMA-2 is also now available in a wireless version. AIAIAI TMA-2 Modular Headphones Headphone on a Budget If you are on a budget, you should definitely take a look at the Anker SoundBuds Slim Earbuds, with a playtime of 7 hours on a charge of 1.5 hours. This pair of headphones is also IPX4 Water Resistant Sports Headset with Mic. For less than $30 (CAD), it's definitely worth a buy. Anker SoundBuds Slim Bluetooth Earbuds Camera This camera is simply ground-breaking, the review will probably be live by next week. This is by far the best camera I've ever used and probably was my last hah. It's part of the digital medium format, it's a stunning, ergonomic and compact design. Hasselblad says because of its highest DxO score (102), this camera can capture everything. I can totally agree with that, it's quite amazing. The field kit shown here comes with 30mm lens, 45mm lens, 90mm lens inside a rugged pelican carrying case. Hasselblad X1D Field Kit Backpack I love Peak Design and watch out for a little surprise from them next week. Newly released in Black, this backpack is rugged, weatherproof and unmatched. This item can adapt your lifestyle easily whenever it is for photography or your everyday life. I just love how Peak Design makes products oriented around good design. Peak Design Everyday Backpack The Last Phone Case you will ever need Moment is easily one of my favorite brands out there. If you are into mobile photography, this is where you should invest your money on. Their products are durable for your everyday use and let's not talk about their lenses. The newly wide lens is incredibly well-made if you don't what's Moment yet. Check out their site now! I'm so delighted to share my picks for this holiday gifting season. While we can all be consumed with consumerism at this specific time of year it's important to reflect on what matters most in our lives and let's be honest, none of it is material. BUT, we do deserve a little sparkle here and there so I hope my curation of minimally-minded items helps take out some of the fuss in your hunt for the perfect gift for that special someone. Whether it be the sustainably-minded sister, the tech-minded traveling brother, the scent-loving mother, or the genius-seeking dad, you'll hopefully find something that may suit your nearest and dearest's needs. Full disclosure, this is really just a hint to Fabio of various items I've been eyeing but I hope you all may find something that is perfect for anyone you love. Without further ado, here is my gifting guide for 2017: Gift Guide ROTHY'S - MORE THAN JUST A PRETTY SHOE My favorite item on this year's list, enter Rothy's - a chic, comfortable and most importantly, thoughtfully designed shoe for your favorite gal. The Rothy's brand was born in San Francisco after three years of painstaking research and boasts a unique proposition in the women's footwear industry staking claim to a feminine flat that is low-waste, low- impact, hand-made and durable. Thanks to Rothy's game-changing design and 3-D Knit Technology they are machine washable and look new, wash after wash. And what makes them even better, the team at Rothy's encourages giving their shoes new life when you finally are ready to replace them by simply sending to one of their recycling facilities. Rothy's start at $125, a small price to pay to contribute to the over 7 million plastic bottles that have been repurposed from waste. Give better gifts that make our planet a better place. Done and done. SIMONE LEBLANC AMBER CANDLE WITH LINEN WRAP I could spend hours on Simone's site just coveting every single gifting situation. As a former stylist, Simone has an impeccable eye for how gifts can connect people, make memories and transform relationships. In a phrase, it's modern giving done right. Just one glance at Simone's beautiful site and you'll trust it's your one-stop shop for sending the ultimate holiday gift for that special someone who appreciates the finer things. I'm choosing to feature her beautifully wrapped Amber candle because I'm a sucker for an amazing woods-y candle, wrapped in linen, and then topped with greenery that could be a potential player at Harry and Meghan's wedding. A perfectly packaged grab-and-go gift for $48. AWAY - THOUGHTFUL LUGGAGE FOR THE MODERN TRAVELER Away Luggage is one of those brands I admire but then also kick myself that I didn't think of the uber-clever idea myself! The most thoughtful, convenient piece of luggage you'll own, Away is a suitcase that pulls more than its weight— a home between homes, a closet between closets, an outlet between outlets. Their mantra which I fully preach - "if you’re looking down at your dying phone and broken bag, you can’t see up, out, and ahead to the world in front of you." If you're wanting to go the extra mile to add a personal touch check out their monogramming edition and a New York artist will HANDPAINT initials in their New York studio. #special. The most wonderful time of year is upon us and that also means it's time for gift guides to lend a little guidance through the holiday hustle. Of course, it's no different here on Abduzeedo and this year we're taking a bit of a new spin. Each one of our writers will share their own personal picks so you can get a well-rounded selection of our most coveted gifts for you and yours. I'll kick things off with my personal gift guide ranging from my favorite pieces of technology to great coffee table books that I'm wishing for or already own but love so much that I think you will too! So let's start the fun and stay tuned for more gift guides from the team here at Abduzeedo over the next week. Gift Guide 2017 Phone My recommendation here will have to be the Pixel 2 just because of the fantastic camera. I own the Pixel 2 XL and for me, it's the best device on the market. I haven't had any screen problems besides the color being a bit dull in the beginning but now it seems to be addressed and just fine. In addition to that, I can tell you that I tested a bunch of phones this year, the S8 (probably the best industrial design) and the iPhone X, which is a great phone but I just can't get on board with that pesky notch. Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL Camera The Pixel 2 has an excellent camera, but for me there's still the need of a great camera. I carry with me the Sony RX 1 RII and it's my personal favorite because of the size and the incredible image quality. But, for the gift guide I will vary a little bit and suggest the brand new Leica CL. What else can I say besides it's a Leica. It looks awesome, it's quite small and it does have a view finder. It's also the first Leica to ship with kit lens. Leica CL Mirrorless Black Camera Prime Kit with TL 18mm Games I love video-games and the Nintendo Switch solved one of the biggest problems I had with video-games that was the fact I never had time to stay in front of a TV for too long. Being portable gave me the freedom to play everywhere. Of course it has some incredible games. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Oddisey and FIFA 2018 are my go to games. Nintendo Switch Headphones I was very skeptical about wireless headphones until I gave them a try. I have to say, for me at least, the Apple Airpods are the best in terms of ease of use and size. I have been using Apple earbuds since the iPod times, so I am very used to them. The Airpods work great, it never falls from my ears and it's very easy to pair with Android too (the device I used them with most of the time). Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, you know the rest. It's that time, the most wonderful time of the year, at least for a good deal of the population around the globe. I have always had somewhat mixed feelings about Christmas, but it's growing on me since I move to the northern hemisphere where I can experience Christmas during the winter. In Brazil it was just the beginning of an awesome summer, less about the cozy fireplace and more about the beach and soaking up the sun.
