Creating Smoke Tutorial: 2 Years Anniversary - 1000 business cards giveaway

In December 16th of 2006, I started Abduzeedo with the idea of making it a place where I could share design things I like, but also backup some Photoshop experiments. Then in March 22nd of that year I posted a little walk through article on how to create a stylish smoke using Photoshop and the Liquify filter, and fortunately it became very popular and has promoted Abduzeedo throughout the web. I remember that I was looking for a way to create that effect for quite some time, then when I was driving back home and had an idea of what could be the best way to do the effect. I got home and put my laptop on the kitchen table and using only the laptop's trackpad I created the image. Today, we celebrate the second anniversary of the tutorial that really gave some visibility to Abduzeedo. It was our first article to hit Digg's frontpage and also was featured in some great sites such as Lifehacker. And for this celebration, we will give away 1000 postcards from PrintPrintPrint.biz, to participate, just leave a comment. We will announce the winner next week. Also, I've created a wallpaper with that image. If you haven't checked the tutorial yet, you can take a look at "Create Smoke in Photoshop". Wallpaper of the Week #43 - depthCORE HEIST

The wallpaper of this week is super cool, it's an image from the new depthCORE chapter called HEIST. It was created by Theo Aartsma from Sumeco, http://sumeco.net, a Dutch designer with an impressive portfolio. The first instalment of a two-part banger, HEIST is designed to be a fun ride around the seamier side of life, with our artists focussing on any aspect of the theme that suited their fancy and riffing out whatever caper came to mind. Though it took a while for us to hit our stride behind the scenes, once we got going on this chapter it started to gather some serious momentum, and we’re pretty stoked with the end result. We're similarly happy to be back to a sans-serif look on the site - much love to Matei Apostolescu and Brian D. Smith for their hard work on our slick new skin. For more information visit depthCORE XXXVI - Heist. Desktop Version iPhone Version Resolutions: 1920x1200px 1680x1050px 1440x900px 1280x1024px 1280x800px 1024x768px iPhone

Get you art on Laptop Skins and iPhone Covers

First there was Threadless.com for crowd-sourced art for T-Shirts... now there is Infectious.com for crowd-sourced art for the rest of your life! It's a very cool site where any artist can submit art for people to buy to decorate their laptop, iPhone, car, or wall. They just started accepting photography, so I thought I would submit a few from www.stuckincustoms.com. Here are some samples beneath with links to the site. Besides these, you will see many other good submissions on there to start decorating your world. I think the next step is for fans of this site to submit some of those beautiful Abduzeedo backgrounds submitted to Infectious.com! Also, there are so many good designers that frequent this site, there should be ample opportunity to get a wide variety of high quality work on there soon. Some Examples Below are two of the entries along with the third source picture for the third. Written by Trey Ratcliff - www.stuckincustoms.com
