Ultima - Digital Image Series

Ultima is a series of digital images created by Nick Pedersen. This series is showing Nick's concern for the future of man kind and the images on this series were created with his own photographs and a lot of photoshop time. Find out more about this series. Ultima is a body of work that is deeply rooted in environmentalism, showing my concern for the future by depicting the ways in which mankind’s creations have an impact on the planet. Primarily it is about the modern conflict between the manmade world and the natural world, and between modern and primitive cultures. I portray this as an epic struggle and in my work these forces clash in theatrical, post-apocalyptic battlegrounds. My goal with this project is to create striking juxtapositions between the ruins of modern civilization and a futuristic ecological utopia. The narrative progression shows a rediscovery of these remnants belonging to the conceivably forgotten past. The images in this series were created through a complex process of high dynamic range imaging and digital compositing in Photoshop to create a seamless montage using my own photographs. The environmental images were mostly photographed in the jungles of Thailand, merged with city images from Brooklyn and Philadelphia. I took all the animal images from zoos, museums, taxidermists, and in the wild and incorporated them into the scenes. Finally, the character images were taken in the studio with lighting set up to match the landscapes I created. I then spent a great deal of time meticulously building up these images from background to foreground to create the hyper-real, illustrative aesthetic I wanted. This body of work is the first of a 3-part series envisioning the hypothetical future that will be published in my next book, and collectively it is called Ultima. Conceptually, it is mainly inspired by the idea of nature reclaiming the Earth through the biological forces of deep time. Through this project I want to show a glimpse into the world I have imagined, and give viewers a space in which to contemplate the future of our planet. For more about Nick Pedersen visit

At Least we Dream - Digital Art

Jonathan M. Foerster is an amazing digital artist with such rich style full of colorful shine elements that intricate the eyes as they look for an understanding. I could look at each piece for a long time and still find the details that will change my point of view. To see more from Jonathan visit - I have found comfort and serenity in escapism through different mediums ever since I can remember. Always to be a recluse, quiet and in the constant realms of my head. These realms build upon love, fear, death, life and lust that I cannot render through words. My interpretations are of only mere sketches to what I cannot describe inside me. Building layer upon layer, obsessing over detail upon detail, my creations come to life after many months of hard work. Through this progression my thoughts and emotions change, and my work will evolve but in the end its core is still intact. This is just me, attempting to communicate myself through pieces that grow more detailed and time consuming as I, myself grow, change, learn and experience our shared course. Jonathan M.
