In this tutorial I will show how to create curtains and other nice effects in Photoshop. When I was traveling I was always thinking about some ideas for wallpapers for Abduzeedo. Concepts that would show what the blog is about and of course, related to the Space subject. That was when I had this idea of an alien behind curtains.
Anyway, for this tutorial we will use some images from iStockphoto and Google Images, and as usual some neat lighting effects. You probably know how to create some of the effects but it's a good exercise on how to turn an idea into an image.
The wallpaper of this week is an image created by Bram Vanhaeren. Bram is 20 years old and studies cross media design, after 2 years freelancing together with his brother. He's been developing his style since his first pen tool experiments in Illustrator about 5 years ago. Bram's style ranges from simple illustrations and typography to mixed media artwork.
The book suggestion of the week is one of my favorites, it's called Typology: Type Design From Victorian Era to the Digital Age and it covers a lot of art history always linking with types and typography. It's a must read for those starting out their careers or even willing to dust off their typology and typography skills.
