Color Grading is a subject that we rarely featured on Abduzeedo, it's a process of post-production that involves altering and enhancing the colour for a motion picture, video image or still image. With a background in paintings, installations, and sculptures; she decided to go into an industry gender and diversity issues where she's been now working for the last 15 years and also becoming a role model for the next generation. I would like to share something that is close to our hearts, the thought of having sick kids as being parents, siblings, friends and anybody around. You couldn’t help that it will touch you somehow. I’ve been lucky to never have been through this process but I would imagine that will be hard to everyone. There’s something more about getting that latest tech and it’s being lucky to be healthy and living. On that note, we’ll love to share this strong and solid ad campaign for the Sick Kids Foundation. Today, November 25th, the world celebrates 100 years of Einstein's theory of General Relativity. As a fan of science and having Einstein as one of my personal heroes I couldn't let this date pass in vain. After reading several books, biographies and articles about Einsteins contributions to the understanding of our universe, still today it blows my mind to think what he was able to accomplish with just pencil and paper. As he said to one of the Princeton guys when he accepted his post there, he needed just pencil and paper and a lot of eraser. Einstein's work with the General Relativity allowed us to understand how gravity affects the space-time continuum and gave us a glimpse of how the universe works. The idea of black-holes and that the universe is expanding were all predicted by the genius of his work. As a non-scientist, the movie Interstellar gives a glimpse of Einsteins theory and how it would affect us when traveling to different galaxies. The space-time continuum is a mathematical model that joins space and time into a single idea. This space-time is represented by a model where space is three-dimensional and time has the role of the fourth dimension. Another great way to understand more about General Relativity is to check out the video that Eoin Duffy put together to celebrate this important date and to pay homage to Einstein's theory. Yesterday while checking my Facebook I saw this awesome time-lapse video that Rik Oostenbroek posted capturing a behind the scenes of peek of his project for Nike Total Football. The end result is quite beautiful, as we always expect from Rik. Seeing how he creates these amazing illustrations is not only amazing but really inspiring. I learned a couple of new tricks just by checking it, you should do the same. Nike asked me to stay true to my own personal style and experiment with it and go crazy. The concept was based on the dynamics and fluent movement of the total football from the Dutch total football, as introduced at the World-Cup 1974. We have posted many articles about typography but there are a number of projects in particular that really catch our eye. Whether it's the striking visual outcome or the technique behind it, we're blown away by the amazing talent that surrounds us. That's the case of the Melting Offf Unmasked project by Noelia Lozano for the Offf conference. It's awesome to see the video that Noelia shares showcasing a behind the scenes peek into the intricacy and craftsmanship involved throughout the process. Contribution to the OFFF UNMASKED art book celebrating the 15th edition of Barcelona’s OFFF festival. Featuring contributions from renowned illustrators and graphic designers around the world, presenting OFFF as a polytheistic cult,a secret religion with it´s own sacred rituals, places and prophets. The book was designed by Barcelona design studio VASAVA in collaboration with the OFFF team. Motion design is still an area that I am a complete newbie but I am learning to admire and understand some of the subtleties that make this field so incredible for me. For this post I want to share a beautiful project created by Martijn Hogenkamp a Creative Director from Amsterdam, Netherlands. The simplicity and the style of the work makes each frame worth of a poster, check it out. For our good friends Leadsmen, a Dutch electronic outfit, we’ve created a teaser for their album Arctic, which was released the 21st of April 2015. When listening to the pre-release we immediately were inspired by the dark, pulsating soundscapes layered with bubbling synths and pounding percussion. It has been quite some time since I posted about motion graphics. I have had the recent chance to work with some motion designers and it's amazing to see the things that they can do. I am trying to learn some new things but for me the problem is still getting the timing right. The video that I wanted to share today has all of it, beautiful graphics and fantastic motion. The piece was created by murAta Yuzi for the TANO*C TOUR 2014 TOKYO Jingle Movie. I love the easing and staggering of some elements, it feels very organic but modern at the same time. Visual identity is much more than stationary and printed materials, it goes beyond the static graphic representation and extends to motion. Nowadays, it is commonplace to see animations that by themselves represent a brand, whether by the style, motion curves or both. MTV is a good example and probably one of the pioneers in playing with video to extend their brand. MTV Essentials is a project created by Pes Motion Studio a design studio from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our challenge here was to take basic geometric elements and materials and highlight the essence of the objects. We sought to create a universe that may be physically impossible to exist within but that the human imagination can perceive. For inspiration we used an art installation and took our arrangement of the elements from there. Perhaps because of growing up watching NASA's mission on TV and all that imagination about the future with spaceships and the conquering of space. So the guys from Lightfarm Studios put together a really cool piece and an even more awe-inspiring case study showing the process behind it. Check it out. Description Inspired by the book "Rendezvous with Rama" of Arthur C. Clarke, our computer generated astronaut meets the world's ending in a highly detailed vortex. By seamlessly matte painting over 100 aerial pictures of giant proportions, our artists worked hard to bring this surreal idea to life. Our CGI team used the latest technology for cloth simulation which made the unique astronaut's suit possible. In this making-of video you can follow the whole process from the sketch to the final model. Google has started a new series of videos titled Google Design Minutes. In this videos the lead designers of Google products talk about the challenges behind their projects. Jon Wiley talks about Search, Sian Townsend and Jonah Jones talk about Google Maps and Isabelle Olson share a little bit the ideas behind Google Glass. The videos are very insightful and useful to any designer or enthusiast, check them out. When Google launched, it was a crisp white page with a simple search box.
