I've always had a passion for art. Ever since I was young, I would draw and paint a lot. I never really saw it as a possible career for me. It was not until I discovered digital art that I realised that there was a big opportunity in designing. Wallpaper of the Week #71 - Samuel Larsson

The wallpaper of this week is a design created by Samuel Larsson, a graphic designer based in Stockholm. The image is a super cool illustration with that cartoon feel, I've been using it for a few days already and I love it. For more information visit Samuel's website at http://www.hyperislandinternship.se/ I found my way into graphic design through old school b/w-photography. How? With a scanner and simple HTML back in the 90´s I could put my photos online and design the context for them. Around 2004, I had a photosession with Konserthuset, Orebro (Sweden). I needed my own business for the payment and that was the start of it. I also managed a site for Kapitän Designstudio (Architecture company) and took photos for them at the time. Clients recommended each other and soon I found myself working with prints, photography and small web solutions for various kind of companies. In spring 2008 I rented the most beautiful office space at Kapitän and could work full time as a freelancer. I was also hired by lennington.se to work with their designer at regular basis. Wallpaper of the Week #70 - Dizzy Pattern

The wallpaper of this week I designed inspired by a skateboard deck design from the Element. It's a vector pattern that creates a really nice optical illusion. I, also, prepared 2 versions a dark one for those like me who like dark wallpapers and the original version that is more bright, but with a nice retro feel. Check out the tutorial: Rad Pattern in Illustrator that Makes you Dizzy . Wallpaper of the Week #69 - Retro Heroes

The wallpaper of this week is a design I created inspired by the Heroes series. I did the image because I wanted to try to create the eclipse effect of the opening titles of that show using only Photoshop. Of course in the end I had to add some little textures to make it looks a bit older, with that vintage feel. Check out the tutorial: Very Easy Heroes Eclipse in Photoshop. Wallpaper of the Week #66 - James White

The wallpaper of this week is awesome, it's the Tron Legacy artwork created by James White. Well I think James doesn't need introduction anymore. His work is amazing and this design is not different. I’ve been wanting to create this poster for the better part of a year now, after seeing the shaky video of the Tron 2 footage that appeared online last year. But with all of the new materials released last week, concept images and the brilliant trailer for Tron Legacy, I finally had enough reference material to create my own poster for the film. The trailer is packed with lovely neon lights and television screen feedback, which are elements I love incorporating into my work. We highly recommend that you check out James White's website Desktop Version iPhone Version Resolutions: 1920x1200px 1680x1050px 1440x900px 1280x1024px 1280x800px 1024x768px iPhone

Wallpaper of the Week #65 - Mu!

The wallpaper of this week is an abstract illustration by Sebastián Murra Ramirez, also known as MU, a graphic and motion designer from Colombia, but based in Barcelona who has a very inspiring set of abstract illustrations in his portfolio. I’m a graphic & motion designer from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia based in Barcelona (Catalonia), Spain. I believe the power of color and shape can build a better tomorrow for all of us through the ideas these two elements can communicate. I use abstraction and mainly shapeless objects that combined together form an integrity that speaks of passion, love, aggressiveness, joy, power, justice, injustice, etc., depending on the case. For me each illustration has its meaning but everyone can have his own interpretation. Eventually through abstraction the illustration becomes yours because of the input you make out of it. We highly recommend that you check out MU' website Desktop Version iPhone Version Resolutions: 1920x1200px 1680x1050px 1440x900px 1280x1024px 1280x800px 1024x768px iPhone

The wallpaper of this week is a really nice 3D image created by Ali Rahmoun, also known as Saltshaker911 at DeviantArt. The 3D concept was done while he was playing in 3DSMax. Wallpaper of the Week #61 - Gustav Balderdash

This week we have for the wallpaper of the week an awesome illustration from Gustav Balderdash, an Illustrator, Animator, and Graphic Designer, based in Southampton, England. Gustav Balderdash is a reclusive old chap who enjoys making things. His personal work is chronicled within an ever-mounting stack of sketchbooks. Hand drawn characters inspired by everyday people surrounded by mixed media worlds fill the pages with varying degrees of simplicity and detail. Gustav is by nature a cynical bastard. He is the embodiment of a dying attitude from a bygone era. Gustav is a veteran of two wars, in both of which he was a successful warrior (A large shout out to everyone who came along and showed their loyalty to the old fart).
