Video of the Week #5

March 22, 2008 from

Lego is one of the coolest toys ever. I remember spending days and days playing with it, and probably, so do you. And you probably would built other stuff than the one your set was meant to be. Welcome to the club.

This video shows Paul and Greg, some dudes with a lot of time in their hands (but hey, everybody wish they had more free time), building the Millenium Falcon Lego set. But that's not just it. They made a stop motion video of it, and man, this is freaking awesome. And if you've got a video suggestion to make, just drop a comment!

Meat Text Effect in Photoshop
Last week I published a tutorial showing how to mix a custom font created in Illustrator with some stock photos of milk to create a nice effect. Now on this tutorial we will sort of repeat the technique but this time using stock photos of meat and add perspective to create a word made from beefs. Also we will play with blurs to create a depth of field effect.

The wallpaper of this week is a really nice 3D image created by Ali Rahmoun, also known as Saltshaker911 at DeviantArt. The 3D concept was done while he was playing in 3DSMax. As we always encourage you to play with the tools, nothing better than feature some images from those who do that :)

Book Suggestion: The Art of the LP: Classic Album Covers 1955-1995
The book suggestion of this week is very inspiring, especially for those out there fans of LPs. The book is called The Art of the LP: Classic Album Covers 1955-1995 and it has a great variety of cover design styles from punk rock to pop all divided by thematic chapters.
