Wallpaper of the Week #4

abduzeedo - 05/08/2008

This week's wallpaper is an amazing illustration from the very talented Alessandro Pautasso. For more information about him check his site out at http://www.nosurprises.it/

I think some of his other works are better than the one featured here.

But, that's just my opinion ... each person's tastes are unique, so i'll say no more :D

P.S. (only) High Definition Wallpapers (here)

Question... those who object to the 'making out' in the pic - would it bother you so much if it was a man and a woman? It seems to me that people often get the hump over homosexual encounters but totally ignore similar heterosexual imagery. Double standards?

Im just saying that the first few wallpapers just blew me away, and this one isn't nearly as good. I'd rather my desktop have an insanely creative background, and not just some lesbians. And btw, this is coming from a 14 year-old boy. Not all 14 year-olds obsess over vector illustrations depicting females kissing.

Regardless of Alessandro's subject matter, he displays a very good grasp of the tools he uses to create his artwork. Great color treatments, effects and smart compositions where his figures tend to blend into one another in complex ways. I really dig his stuff.

Whatever the people might be saying, this piece of art is exquisite ! Really cool. Its a matter of taste in the end. But I love it !

I'm kind of shocked by the overall response here to two girls making out. Yes it's somewhat explicit, but on the other hand it's a very clean and well executed illustration. I personally feel it's a taste thing, and that it's not fair to take it out on the blog.
Then again I think it will be a long time before we see something like this posted here again;)

gah..can the 15 year old boys out and play baseball or something, so we can see some work done by actual adults? this girl on girl hustler crap is getting old.

O don't take my comment the wrong way. It isn't my favorite one, however i still like it. I appreciate all art.

Actual design work is fabulous, but subject matter is just too Playboy. There are less "obvious" ways to depict and characterize homosexual intimacy.

Hey guys thanks for the comments, I chose that wallpaper because it's dark and simple, like Alessandro has really good designs and he said we could use any, then I chose this one. The first wallpaper of the week we had chosen a crazy artwork from Guilherme Marconi, however some people said that it was too much for a wallpaper.

I will ask more designers to create nice wallpapers, and I'd love to get suggestions from everybody...

Thanks a lot ;)

Don't get me wrong, i'm not losing hope in this site, it's fantastic. But putting up this mediocre art work, when i know the artist has created much more stunning pieces is a bit lack-luster for wallpaper of the week.

And when i have a wallpaper i want to be excited about the creativity in it, having some web address bang underneath it completely kills the piece for me.

What's the harm in allowing the dude to plug his own site on the wallpaper he created? Seriously? Also, there is nothing explicit about this wallpaper. So why would it need to be "filtered"? I think its an excellent example of some solid color choices and expression.

I apologize if I come harsh or angry, but to loose "hope" just because there is a piece posted that you don't like is absolutely ridiculous. I say keep on rocking Abduzeedo.

Nice images, I love the swirls that he created usuing illustrator. Would like to see how he uses the Pencil Tool to do it though.

Umm, I've been keeping up with the wallpaper of the week and changing mine accordingly as I liked the idea and like to keep things fresh.

But this is just a poor background that has been used just because you interviewed this guy and the wallpaper even plugs his website! Shameful.

So is there no filter on the content for the wallpapers of the week? I like wallpapers that are really creative and would be really hard to copy, and not some vector girls making out. I no longer have hope in the wallpapers announced on this blog.
