A Kids Company About was founded by Jelani Memory back in 2018 with a book for his six kids titled A Kids Book About Racism. At the time Memory had 5 kids (4 white and 1 brown) with a new little brown baby on the way. Growing up as a black kid in the whitest city in America, it felt important that his kids not only know and understand what racism is but be able to talk about it openly. So he did what any dad would do, he wrote a book.
Today, the company is making the leap from telling stories in books to 5-9 year-olds, to now telling stories through words, video, audio, and beyond for kids of all ages. Books range in areas of focus from imagination, optimism, belonging and confidence to grief, empathy, emotions and their latest launch...the microbiome! A Kids Company About partnered with Seed founder Ara Katz to bring this latest title to life in an effort to teach kids what the microbiome is, what it does, how we can help it thrive, and why we can’t live without it. What child doesn't love to talk about poop and now they can do so with a complete understanding of how the body makes it happen. Brownie points for the beautiful branding and design of each individual title.
