Web Design: Stores Inspiration

Independent Brands, I feel there so many out there nowadays. Free from the outside and happily working without a hassle at making their own trademark which is a very good thing. The old days when only big brands were ruling are gone. Part of the brand process, one of the many crucial things to associate with to your product is your site. If your customers/target audience doesn't know what your product is all about after a few seconds then all your efforts are worthless at this point.

SoundCloud Redesign Concept

Danish designer Mickey Switzer designed this concept for SoundCloud introducing written content. The main purpose was to get a clean, clear website that is easy to navigate and with a lot of attention to the small details. This meant — among other things — updating the basic identity with fresh icons, fresh colors and a new logo while giving attention to the existing UX. Long Life Wodd - UI/UX

It's awesome to see more people translating beautiful typography, the kind we are accustomed to seeing on magazines, now on the web. The biggest challenge for me, especially now that I am redesigning Abduzeedo, is how to take a systematic approach and create something that works with dynamic content. We know that magazines and editorial design rely on grid, templates, styles much like the web, but it also has the flexibility of having someone fine tuning the content.

UI Design by Nerval

I have seen more websites focusing on beautiful grid systems that resemble magazines. The challenge still is how to create a flexible enough system for any type of content or a system that is smart enough to identify the type of content and define the layout that best fits that content. Some services are out there like The Grid. I have been spending a lot of time myself trying to come up with something simpler yet modern for the new Abduzeedo. For this post I'd like to feature the work of a young swiss student, Pierre Georges.

UI Design: Sponsored by Gatorade Project

When I started my industrial design course back in the 90s our focus was on either furniture design or visual identities. It was all about designing and creating documentation through styleguides. Today we see the evolution of this, where the focus instead of print is on digital, especially mobile apps. Sponsored by Gatorade is a simple, yet quite good example. Gatorade is well known as the official sponsor of the best champions. The awareness in Italy is almost 100% but...
