I can't find anywhere Path palette section OR Layer Palette. Where are those? Please help! :( I've looked everywhere but can't find them. :(

i really enjoyed this tutorial, however, i can't get my brushes to do the beautiful things everyone else has figured out. I tried creating a new layer, and painting on that, but then it's on top of the image and looks awful. I can't figure out for the life of me what i'm doing wrong. If anyone could please help me figure it out, i'd really appreciate it.

Here's my contribution.
This is a very easy tutorial to follow.
It came out way better than I thought it would.

Photoshop CS4 was used.

i believed this is a CS3 version. and for the brush settings, just check history palette and beside that you can find the brush, clone source, character, paragraph and layer composition menus. just click on the brush menu and you'll find the setting preferences on this tutorial.

I'm stuck on Step 10. What layer do you have to be on for the lasso tool? What layer do you have to be on for the rainbow effect? I can't get the image to change from the rotated white fibers image to the rainbow effect image.

Step 11: Make sure you switch the radial blend mode to "MULTIPLY"

To NOOBS: Step 10 Rotate the layer using free transform (ctrl + t on a PC) then grab a corner and rotate it, hit enter when done.

And they don't have "Refine Selection" on CS2 or lower... but a lower feather number should do the trick.

Hello abduzeedo, I like your tuts and I just got my first Photoshop CS3 and so when I am trying to create a new document and then "double click on background layer to open layer style" I have been trying to figure out how in the world to do that! When I did that, it just tell me to create a new layer first then do Layer style. I can't just click on background layer to open layer style because it is already "locked" :/ I am a newbie with this Photoshop and every photoshop tut sites are confusing me!

I have a problem with step 10.

When I rotate the fiber layer it also rotates the gradient background. Also...when I use the lasso tool on step 10 it wont let me reveal the selection. What do I do?

I can't get past step 8 I got the clouds but when I go to layer style and change the color blend to color dodge it doesn't have the same outcome as yours. It just turns my clouds blue can someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong. Im so envious of everyones outcome :(

For those of you stuck at Step 9 with the Fibers error this is what you need to do since it was left out of the tut. You need to create a new layer and fill it with white. The error is coming up because there is nothing to render on a transparent image. So here is how the step should go create new layer (ctrl+shit+n) then fill it with white. Then go to Filter>Render>Fibers. Hope this helps!!!

Immortal read step 5 again,I think he means reduce the opacity ie make it more "see through" find this at the top left of your layer pallette

I don't know why... Urgh!

YOU HAVE TO USE CS3. If you are using CS3 you need to fill the layer with a colour. Photoshop can not do much with a blank layer as there is nothing there.

When you want any photo to edit off the web you need to right click your mouse and choose Save as... and please remember where the pic has been saved to.When you open Photoshop choose open,select your pic and it will appear in Photoshop (normally on a locked layer,see padlock),duplicate the layer to make it editable.

what version of photoshop is this? mine is adobe cs2.. there are other features that are not present.. im having a hard time editing.. the instructions are kinda misleading.. in step 9..

Well, after spending 4 days trying this tutorial, i have learnt what the PEN tool does, i have learnt what a PATH is, i have learnt what a MASK is, i've learnt about LAYER STYLES, i've learnt about BRUSHES..

I think the steps with the cloud up to the point where its blended in with the rainbow effects are a bit unclear.
Perhaps because you are a professional you may not have realised that you missed a few basic instructions. :-)

Whats Hot in the Streets Right Now...

1st of all thx for this tutorial - but i think it would be better if it would have been explained much better. its just so short in detail, some parts are just missing, like where to choose the color, how to get to certain tools, i just got started but why in the world should i not be able to do this as well. would be nice of you to explain your tutorials in mor detail. thx though

Abduzeedo do you add a color to the brush?

Because when i use it on the white layer, the brush strokes don't appear.

The Abduzeedo Logo is a Layer in the Brush Folder... use T for Text an you can make your own. Don't forget the Blend Mode ect. (Color Dodge ...).

if i wanted to put this on a differnet background with out loosing all the layer blending options how would i go about doing it?
Also is there a posibility that you could do a really quick tutorial on variations of the brushes as i have had some problems getting some different charecteristics into the burshes (The splattered glowing dots kind off thing).

Brilliant tutorial, i teach myself everything, from tutorials, and have become a bit of an advanced just from excellent tutorials like this one they really have helped me get good at photoshopping so much =D
