Cyber City Orion: Exploring the Future of Immersive Web Design

Explore Cyber City Orion by Adrian Red, an immersive 3D cyberpunk web experience built with Blender, Three.js, and Cursor, now open to visitors.

Adrian Red, Digital & 3D Production artist and immersive web designer, presents Cyber City Orion, an immersive 3D web experience inspired by the aesthetics of Blade Runner and the broader language of cyberpunk. After four months of design and development, the project is now live and open to visitors.

A Vision of the Future, Built from Scratch

Cyber City Orion invites users into a richly detailed digital environment where they can fly between skyscrapers, traverse rooftops, dive into arcades, or simply take in the atmosphere. It demonstrates how interactive storytelling and technical execution can merge seamlessly in the browser, transforming familiar cultural influences into a living, explorable city.

The workflow relied on Blender for modeling, UV unwrapping, and texturing, with web-ready exports optimized using Draco and KTX2. Rendering was powered by Three.js, while Cursor enabled natural language–driven development, debugging, and iteration. Every detail, from movement mechanics to performance testing across devices, was carefully considered, resulting in an experience that runs smoothly with four selectable graphics presets.

Translating Influence Into Original Design

What makes Orion compelling, and so fun, is its ability to reinterpret cultural tropes, neon signs, vertical skylines, atmospheric light, into an original design language. Rather than replicating the cyberpunk canon, it extends it, creating a digital environment that feels both cinematic and deeply personal.

This project underscores a larger shift: individuals can now achieve results once reserved for studios. With today’s hybrid workflows, blending no-code platforms, open-source tools, and creative problem-solving, Adrian demonstrates how designers can translate vision into reality more quickly and independently than ever.

Acknowledging the Ecosystem

Adrian Red credits the communities and technologies that made the work possible: Blender, Three.js, Cursor, Google DeepMind, GitHub, and Vercel. Cyber City Orion is also a tribute to the films and games that shaped the cyberpunk imagination, reinterpreted for the modern web.

Inspiration for Designers

Cyber City Orion is a reminder that design thrives at the intersection of creativity and technology. The tools at our fingertips, Blender, Three.js, Cursor, and beyond, are no longer just utilities, but amplifiers of imagination. They allow us to explore ideas at a scale and fidelity once out of reach, encouraging experimentation and iteration without limits.

For designers, the takeaway is clear: embrace the tools available, stay curious, and push them in new directions. The future of design is not only about visuals but about experiences, worlds we can build, share, and invite others to explore.
