The Dark Knight Rises movie is a couple of weeks away and the amount of posters and viral images promoting the movie is quite amazing. There are some really cool ones and as usual, we want to learn how they were done. That is the case of this Photoshop tutorial based on another promotional image for the Dark Knight Rises.
A few years ago I saw an image of Homer Simpson's head in x-ray. I really like that effect and always wanted to try something like that in Photoshop. I didn't know exactly what to do but then I checked online and saw that some people did text effects with the x-ray type of image. That was indeed a nice idea to try.
The year's most anticipated movie for me with no doubt is The Dark Knight Rises. I had high hopes for Prometheus, but in the end, it was underwhelming. But the new Batman I am sure will not disappoint. With that in mind, we decided to come up with some tutorials playing with the subject.
Photoshop CS6 has updated its 3D tool adding more features and making it easier to use and faster. We decided to play with some 3D using Photoshop to create a basic extrusion and then adding some old halftone style to it.
We love playing with typography, it's simple and always effective not only in terms of outcomes but the amount we can learn by experimenting with text effects. From 3D to light effects or simply creating a furry text effect with a leopard style texture. That's the idea of the following Pixelmator tutorial.
Photoshop CS6 has some great features, one of them is the new timeline for basic animations and this time Photoshop gets a little bit of the After Effects taste. As the idea of the blog is to play with these tools, we decided to come up with something for this new feature.
A few weeks ago we posted a tutorial showing how to create a hipster text effect using Pixelmator. Now we decided to show you the same effect using Photoshop CS6. As we had said, we will be doing that in Fireworks and CSS as well. So stay tuned.
Every time I checked Dribbble I see a bunch of posts with this sort of vintage typography style. It's a very interesting look and very trendy nowadays. With that in mind, I decided to improve my skills by trying to replicate this look and feel using Pixelmator. I will also post a tutorial using Photoshop, Fireworks, and CSS.
We always try to publish tutorials based on effects we like especially from movies, posters and other sources of inspiration. Most of the times we want to redo effects so we want to learn how that was done. This tutorial is not different. We will be revisiting the Clash of the Titans tutorial with the new effect inspiring on the Wrath of the Titans poster.
