Simply Said: Communicating Better at Work and Beyond

Communication is the most important skill a designer has to develop or improve. It’s not only the core of what we do as designers, we also help to communicate messages be it for a service, hardware or product to a brand, interface or printed materials. Communication is also paramount to how we articulate our ideas and how we talk to our peers and stakeholders. It’s also core to how we can influence or align teams towards the best way to solve problems or in other words, communicate with the clients or users.

I know it might sound a bit mumbo jumbo but I’ve always struggled with communication, especially communicating with stakeholders and in big meetings. I’ve been fortunate enough to get support to improve by taking courses, reading books and, begrudgingly, feedback from my wife. One of my favorites is Simply Said: Communicating Better at Work and Beyond by Jay Sullivan.

Simply Said contains invaluable tips and techniques to help you be a more effective communicator and improve your confidence.
