Watercolor is such a beautiful and intricate technique. I'm always taken away by the subtlety of watercolor pieces. It is like artists have a magic wand and create these beautiful stories with their work.
Over the course of 9 years we've posted countless posts and have had the chance to discover incredible designers, illustrators and enthusiasts. To my own surprise we have yet to feature Van Orton Design. We posted one of his projects 2 years ago, but not featuring the man himself which I'd say was an oversight we are rectifying immediately.
Van's illustrations are simply awesome, colorful, fresh and inspiring. It reminds me a little bit of the work of Romero Britto, a Brazilian artist known for colorful paintings. The main difference is that Van's is a bit more geometric and explores pop themes like movies, rock bands and other pop culture subjects. It also has some resemblance with another one of my favorites, James White.
Enough talk, time to check out the work for yourself. Also for more information about Van Orton Design check out http://vanortondesign.com/. Enjoy!
