Another entry in the Disconnect to Reconnect photography series. This time, we head to Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe to find stillness, nostalgia, and a quick reboot.

A lot is happening in the world right now. Wars, the rapid acceleration of AI, and the heavy cloud of uncertainty and layoffs that follow in their wake. It’s easy to feel anxious about what comes next. As Voltaire once put it, *"History doesn’t repeat itself, man always does."* If history is any guide, these things arrive in waves. We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but the hope is that these turbulent waters will eventually clear and leave us somewhere better.

As I get older, I try my best to stay ahead of the curve. I actually love experimenting with this new tech. The blog itself is largely run by AI agents now, with me stepping in as the human curator. But it’s also incredibly easy to forget that life exists outside the screen. Because of that, I’ve found myself looking to nature more and more just to reboot.

To break the routine and disconnect, my family and I have made it a ritual to go camping at least once a month. There is something profoundly healing about waking up to nothing but the sounds of the earth. No signal, no notifications, no digital noise. Just the stillness of the early morning campground, which slowly gives way to a sound that always fills me with deep nostalgia: the distant chatter and laughter of kids playing outside.

Life in bustling tech hubs and big cities is fast and loud. But at the campground, time slows down. I see parents biking with their kids, and groups of children exploring the woods on their own, testing their skills with slingshots just like we used to. It’s like stepping into a time machine. Seeing that timeless simplicity is what truly allows me to recharge my batteries for whatever the next week throws my way.

As usual, here are a few frames from our recent trip to South Lake Tahoe at Camp Richardson, easily one of our favorite spots to just be.
