Elevating branding for Badara architecture office by Monga

Monga Design, a renowned studio hailing from Brazil, has undertaken a remarkable branding project for Badara, an esteemed architecture office located in Florianópolis-SC. Combining elements of Brazilian culture and a deep appreciation for the country's roots, Monga Design crafted a visual identity that exudes elegance and simplicity.

The comprehensive branding project encompassed logo design, visual identity, stationery, social media design, web design concepts, and promotional materials. Additionally, Monga Design played a pivotal role in creating the name for the office, carefully aligning it with the essence of the brand.

Badara, led by three partners and childhood friends—Isadora, Laura, and Gabriel—operates with a vision of enriching the Brazilian way of living while staying deeply connected to nature and culture. Monga Design sought to capture this authentic spirit and their constructivist approach to architecture.

The name "Badara" draws inspiration from Florianópolis' symbolic tree, Guarapuvu, and the three syllables represent the collaborative efforts of the three partners, each marked by the letter "A." The design team incorporated the shapes found in Brazil's flag—a square, rhombus, and circle—to further emphasize the constructivist influences.

For the logo, Monga Design utilized the Caju typeface, designed by Brazilian designer Kauan Miranda. By strategically incorporating the letter "A" in the logo, they were able to convey the strength of well-designed columns and the radial unity of roots. The rounded letterforms reflect the softness required to nurture an individual's curiosity.

The color palette takes cues from the Brazilian flag, but with a softer and more expansive range. Inspired by nature and local architectural textures, Monga Design developed an earthy yet vibrant selection of colors, capturing a youthful, Brazilian, and elegant aesthetic.

In a time when Brazil's national symbols had been misappropriated and associated with nationalism and hostility, Monga Design aimed to reclaim the country's true essence through their work. By infusing creativity, joy, playfulness, and authenticity into the branding for Badara, they sought to showcase the beauty and resilience of Brazil.

Monga Design's branding project for Badara is a testament to their commitment to thoughtful design, paying homage to Brazilian culture while creating an elegant and impactful visual identity.
