We scooped the news of MADE Hotel launching in NYC from our trusty friends over at Coolhunting and couldn't resist sharing this beautiful new zen-like retreat right smack in the heart of the city that doesn't sleep. From the hand-painted wall-tiles to handwoven fabrics peppered throughout, we could absolutely find ourselves as permanent guests. Not to mention, if we ever get around to the dream of renovating our house this would be the inspiration wholly.
The 108-room property in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood (North of Madison Square Park) takes inspiration from the recent maker movement happening in NYC and around the globe. Sam Gelin, a man with a finance and private aviation background, has put a ton of heart into this experience including an uber unique and tasty food and beverage program. The most covetable aspect of the hotel is the prime view guests are afforded of the Empire State Building from the epic rooftop.
Gelin worked with LA-based Studio MAI, the talented team behind Venice's Gjelina restaurant, to develop the aesthetic. While the attention to detail is impeccable, the rooms don't feel overdone showcasing evidence of makers more so than fabrication. Lastly, channeling the latest trend of minimalism, there's a simplicity to the layout that maximizes space in a genius way.
“We’ve created a space that transitions seamlessly from morning to night,” says Gelin. “We want guests to start with a cup of coffee and stay into the evening to mingle over a craft cocktail.”
