Clément OGIELA (Polak) created a series of illustrations for Reverse MOOKS between 2019 and 2020. His work is a mix of photomontages, handmade typographies and textures. The result is what we could call a 90s inspired look. It brings that deconstructivist style mixing different graphics that reminds me of David Carson and the End of Print type of work.
I like imperfections and mistakes in the process of creation. I like to combine and overlay different illustrations and images with brushed typographies.
Deconstructivist Illustrations
Deconstructivism is characterized by an absence of harmony, continuity, or symmetry. Designers are distorting and dislocating elements, infusing black and white effects with colors, broken letter forms and chopped design elements to deliver an unpredictable visual appearance. It brings back nostalgic feelings of Russian Constructivism and Ray Gun magazine. It shows a clear rejection of the mainstream, almost forcing the receiver to become an active viewer of the work. - Muzli Magazine
