One of the new trends in terms of digital design, especially interface design, is the return of simple, flat and typographical design. We can say that Microsoft might have started that back in 2007 when they launched the Zune with its beautiful typographic based interface. Despite the failure of the product, that UI was improved and applied to the Windows Phone and Windows 8 interface design.
Today we featured a fantastic artwork created by our friend Christopher Haines. This piece is titled Three Word Advice and it's a super cool mix of typography, 3D and photo manipulation with the text "Beware of Snakes". Christopher also shares a timelapse video of his design process in Cinema 4D, definitely worth checking it out.
Christopher Haines is an Australian designer and illustrator. We have featured his work here on Abduzeedo and also on our book.
RE-VISION — POP CULTURE ICONS
Now that flat design seems to be the biggest trend nothing better than some really cool cultural icons illustrated in a very minimal style. We are talking about the Re-Vision Postcards by Forma & Co.
I don't remember posting about this, but they are simply awesome and definitely deserve a post.
Pete Oswald, a super talented animator by day who has worked on such 3D stop-motion animated films as last year's ParaNorman and Hotel Transylvania, is also a darn good artist on the side. Pete recently showcased some work from his latest side project as part of the "Ghosts and All" art show at LA's WWA Gallery. We were definitely taken by the moodiness of Pete's portrayal of Santa Monica and in particular, specific landmarks around Pete's neighborhood.
