Cuphead is one of my favorite games in terms of graphics quality, animation and aesthetics. My only complaint is about how hard that game is, which in a way blocks me from appreciating the quality of the artwork, animations and compositions created by the game designers. By the way, that game was all hand-drawn I believe. But in the same spirit of Cuphead, Tony Babel shared an amazing set of animations that he called Vintage Loops. As the name suggested it’s a collection of little loops with funny titles like Elevator to Hell and Dirty Dancing. They are definitely inspired by old cartoons and of course Cuphead.
For this project Tony used Adobe tools like Illustrator and all these 2d loops were made using Shape Layers in After Effects.
