Celebrating a Brand Design Legend: Landor's 100th Birthday

Today marks the 100th birthday of acclaimed designer and branding guru, Walter Landor, founder of Landor Associates in San Francisco. Mr. Landor and his wife launched what is now one of the preeminent brand consulting firms from the living room table of their quaint flat in San Francisco's Russian Hill in 1941. Without Landor's pioneering spirit, airlines wouldn't have their identities, Levi's wouldn't have the batwing, Old Spice wouldn't be as manly, you wouldn't dream of getting behind the wheel of a Citroën, FedEx packages would be just packages, Coca Cola wouldn't have its script, and the list goes on. Walter's knack for inspiring others and developing creative designs with broad popular appeal goes unmatched to this day. Today, we celebrate you Walter and the world over is forever grateful for your groundbreaking creativity. “Products are made in the factory, but brands are created in the mind.” Remembering Walter from Landor Associates on Vimeo.
