Motion Design: KIYOMI KOBAYASHI Title Sequence

The famous city of Kyoto, Japan; over the years the streets kept its traditions and culture. The architecture has aged well over time and in Gion; you still can notice Geishas running down the small street alleys for their performances. I would like to share a motion design project by Yi Le, director and co-founder of Loop LOOP Studios from Shanghai, China. He created an opening title sequence for KIYOMI KOBAYASHI, a beautiful story about a geisha through her time. You definitely check out the breakdown video as well, it's as always a joy seeing someone's creative process.

In his words

In this video, I portrayed the 1872's Kyoto in my thought, The geisha Kobayashi and Hideyoshi fell in love with each other, and he became her lover. However, due to the war, they were separated from each other forever. I hope this story will bring people's attention to the cruelty of war, as well as the status of women during those times.

It is the artwork I want to make after my first trip to Kyoto this year, I was really impressed by the great temples, garden and people there, I felt very peaceful when I was in Kyoto. Unluckily,I didn't have a chance to watch the performance of geisha at that time, but I saw a lot of geisha walking on the streets, It's like time never passed!
