As you may have seen from our social channels, we have been covering the launch of the new car company called: LYNK & CO (via our Instagram) in Berlin, Germany.
Our friends from Lynk & Co have invited us to what they called 'a carpool interview' so we can virtually experience what its like to test drive the Lynk & Co 01. How they did that? Well Lynk & Co is known for embracing new ways to mobility, making us explore new experiences, and building a community. In other words, they always go 'beyond the limits of what's possible'. And crafting your experience is part of who they are, imagine clicking on 'one simple link' and you land into a 1:1 interview using a multi-camera set up to put you in the car with a Lynk & Co guide. How freaking cool is that? I was lucky enough to be among those to experience this 'new way' and I have met with David Green who is the Chief Digital Officer for Lynk & Co. Let's meet him!
For the last 100 years, car companies have been inviting journalists to one of the most hallowed events in the automotive industry: the test drive. But, with COVID rapidly changing the way we live, Lynk & Co has taken on the challenge of revolutionizing the test drive to be more sustainable, responsible, and accessible.
To give a bit of a context, I have first met David about 5 years ago at the LYNK & CO Launch in Berlin. It was a really great experience to catch up with him again and see how everything has been since. Our conversations have been obviously around the 'never-ending' pandemic but also have things have changed for our daily lives. I personally think this is a very good time for Lynk & Co and their goal to push to market a car that is designed to make your everyday life better.
How the never-ending pandemic has shifted LYNK & CO?
"We are stepping a little bit into the unknown. That's what is cool with Lynk & Co you know! We are willing to give it a try and try new things."
David mentioned that the fact that you can share your car with other Lynk & Co members is a huge factor in building a community. The pandemic has shifted our views in basically owning a car and some of us who will be adopting a more hybrid way of remote working and even living. If you think of the possibilities, it's a game-changer in my opinion.
For example, if you have been like many of us working from home for the vast majority of the past year. If you had a car, I am sure the car has been sitting in the parking and driveaway for most of the time. You will have probably use it the most for trips to the grocery store. Imagine using a car when you only need it and you can share with others within your friends, family, or close community. This is where Lynk & Co comes in. No hassle, just living differently.
What has been the key features that prospects were most excited about?
"We get the most feedback on the 'membership' setup...certain people have reached out to me directly. For €500 per month, you have complete peace of mind. It's sort of an experience that a car executive would usually get. Imagine you are a CEO of a car company, they wouldn't spend their time choosing which car to get, they will just get everything. I am not saying they get it for free but they simply don't need to worry about anything. Our member should get that experience with our cars."
