Naturae - Exploring Nature in Houdini and X-particles

Ian Frederick shared a motion design project that is a combination of a few things. It originally started as R & D and early concept development centering around nature and organic growth for a project that was sadly cancelled. Ian really liked a lot of what had created and wanted to keep exploring the nature vibe as well as push himself to spend time learning more Houdini and X-particles, so a lot of these shots are the original R & D , some are things he learned from watching tutorials and modified for his own purposes, and some are attempts at recreating Houdini cool effects he had seen in other videos as a method of learning the software.

I spent time curating the best experiments and editing them in a way that felt like it had a nice flow of momentum. I also had the great fortune of working with Flank Audio for custom sound design and music that really takes a collection of  experiments strung together and makes it feel like one cohesive piece with a narrative.
