Niklas Rosén was approached by Opal to develop a modern, relevant yet timeless visual identity for the brand, to clearly differentiate from their competitors, and to become the leader within the segment. The brief also entailed a new website, creative direction for product renders and product branding, as well as packaging design. The Opal brand was successfully introduced to the market in December 2021 by releasing its website and opening up for C1 reservations.
Opal took on the task to build the best camera for remote work, focusing on both hardware and software to enable their vision. Their first product is C1, a camera with a 4K Sony sensor enabling DSLR quality, well-packaged in a beautiful anodized aluminum housing. C1 is built for a long lifespan, instead of serving up as plastic fodder for landfills. The camera contains less than 1% plastic, with most of the device being fully recyclable. Additionally, the packaging is 100% recyclable, containing none of the polyurethanes typically used in boxes.
Opal is a newly started American company founded in the aftermath of the pandemic. In the shift to remote work, a clear gap in the market appeared — the need for a solid professional webcam.
