Field Notes, the memo book brand that launched in 2007 as a joint venture between Portland, Oregon-based Draplin Design Company and Chicago-based design firm Coudal Partners, has just launched their 50th quarterly edition and we’re smitten.

Kate Stepanova has an incredible portfolio of illustration projects. I’d love to share one of them, this one in particular is titled Zootopia. At first glance I really thought they were 3D work. Many people know about the challenge that takes place every year called # 36daysoftype, for 8 years it has brought designers and artists from all over the world on instagram under a single hashtag. It has become very popular and I have been participating and trying to challenge myself for 7 years.

It's been at least 6 years since Kristof Van Beversluys (Studio kri kri) had the idea to start painting this moon. The concept was quite clear from the start. “However, I'm not much of a painter. I had painted 3 out of 4 quadrants (the lighter parts) when it was all stranded. I was stuck. I ignored it for a couple of years.

Hadi Tulimat shared the first volume of a series of 3D and Typography poster experiments. This selection focus on 3D shapes mixed with 3D typography using Maxon Cinema 4D, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. The result is quite stunning. 

Orpheus is a paper sculpture / installation made from 350+ cuts of paper created by Aivaras Ligeika. Custom-made glass showcase has a light installed in the base that gently illuminates the sculpture at night-time, creating a unique experience for the observer.

. DEBUT . shared a branding and visual identity project for Brila Laboratori de Ideas. The concept is quite interesting, when I look at the treatment of the “b” it clearly looks like the number 10. That said the overall identity work is simple, fun and effective. Worth the feature.

We have featured the super inspiring print challenges that Jerry-Lee Bosmans shares on his Behance profile. However, Jerry keeps delivering and it’s hard not to post about. For this collection I was quite amazed by some compositions using simple forms like rectangles. They reminded me of some tutorials I wrote literally a decade ago.

Oin Ye is a ceramic artist from Vietnam. He is more known regionally and sells selected products at exhibitions or art markets. For Oin Ye next exhibition "Collection 2" Studio Fabio Biesel were allowed to develop the branding and visual identity work.

Eldar Hairullin shared a minimalistic design concept for Balmain online store and fashion lookbook. Balmain is a french luxury house that was founded by Pierre Balmain in 1945. It currently operates  16 stores in locations including New York City, London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami.

Fran Rossi shared a beautiful 3D project that for some reason we missed, but that’s okay it’s never too late to get inspired by this awesome set of compositions inspired in textures, colors, and the architecture from Fran’s last trip to Japan. 

Formist Editions’ new release is Grid Pad, a pad on which to think, draw and create. Grids with infinite possibilities. Grid Pad is a playful notebook of tear off cards, featuring six different grid designs.
