A bold, dynamic visual identity for Casablanca Music Week by Garip Studio, blending Moroccan geometry, custom typography, and city-scale graphics into a vibrant visual system.
Casablanca Music Week is one of Morocco’s most energetic cultural moments, a weeklong festival that threads 15 artists and genres through the heart of the city. For Garip Studio, the brief wasn’t just to design a logo. It was to create a graphic system that could take over Casablanca, a visual identity that moves through streets, stages, and digital spaces with the same pulse as the music.
At the center of the identity is a dynamic CMW monogram. Rather than a single fixed mark, the team treated the initials as a modular architecture, expanding, contracting, and reshaping depending on the format. It’s flexible without losing its anchor, and that anchor is unmistakably Casablanca.
The designers pulled heavily from the city’s visual DNA: the geometry of Moroccan zellige, the silhouettes of arches, and the tight grid systems found in historic alleyways. These references give the system a structural backbone, while the custom typography brings the volume up, loud, colorful, rhythmic, and always in motion.
The identity scales beautifully. On massive OOH placements, CMW becomes a pattern and a beacon. On stage visuals and motion graphics, it behaves almost like sound itself, vibrating and shifting with the beat. Even in the smallest touchpoints, wristbands, tickets, merch, the system keeps its clarity and energy.
Every piece of the identity feels tied to the city’s pulse: expressive, unpredictable, and culturally layered.
The work didn’t just resonate locally. Casablanca Music Week’s identity took home Best of OOH Design at the 44th Graphic Design Awards from the Turkish Graphic Designers’ Association (GMK), a recognition of how elegantly it activated urban space through graphic language.
Garip Studio’s system proves that a festival brand can be more than a logo. It can be an atmosphere. A rhythm. A temporary visual takeover that turns a city into part of the performance.
