You are by now probably aware of Calmaria.app. I know I keep posting about it and there are a couple of reasons for that. One, breathing exercises are something I’ve been doing a lot and have really helped me deal with anxiety and stress.

Maribel Martel shared a beautiful branding and visual identity project for Waia Ushuaia. From my bad understanding of Spanish, it seems to be for an upscale real estate/housing business, probably in Ushuaia, which is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, in Argentina.

Glass and the blurred effect of refraction and reflection through transparent materials seem to be a big trend now. Well, I love it and have been using it on my Calmaria.app as well as here on the blog.

You have noticed I’ve been sharing quite a few projects featuring 3D compositions that mix the use of glass/crystal objects, most of the time in abstract form, over simple text. The result is some beautiful typography and some unique chromatic effects. I don’t know much about 3D. I played with Cinema 4d in the past, but it’s much more complex that my brain can follow.

This was the most recent SwiftUI experiment. Nothing fancy just trying to understand how to work with shadows. I’ve done similar effects using CSS if you remember here on the blog. But as I am learning this new language, I thought it would be fun to try to design a poster like image using typography and shadows. It was also useful to learn how things animate using states. 

Fromsquare Studio, Kuba Piechota and Huge Dayz shared a branding and visual identity project for Misimi, a Polish clothing brand for pregnant women, which has quickly become one of the most recognizable brands in the country.

A good pal Amrit Pal Singh have shared with us his new project titled: '3D Rooms Project' which is basically a series of how iconic rooms would be represented during the pandemic. It's always rewarding and inspiring seeing what artists, designers, and entrepreneurs are putting together during these times.

Dave Ordnajela is an Art Director & Illustrator based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He shared an aesthetic series filled with imaginative scenes, concluded with a beautiful typography treatment titled: 'Moments & Places'.

Ryogo Toyoda is a 3D illustrator based in Tokyo, Japan, he shared a colorful series of 3D illustrations he worked for the 'Tokyo Design Academy School'. These illustrations that would be used for the school guide purposes and Ryogo wanted to showcase 'how designers contribute to the society after graduation'.

The super talented designers at dops.digital created a brand new visual language for the e-commerce development company Elogic. The new visual language aims to speak to its customers on the same level as they speak with their website end-users. 

I mentioned in a previous post about my adventures with SwiftUI. It’s fun to learn something new and the least I can do is to share what I learned. For most it might be too introductory, or not necessary, however I know that every journey starts with a first step. So if you know nothing about SwiftUI, you love Swiss Style and you want to get started learning to code look no further. 

Learning SwiftUI has been a lot of fun. I talked a bit about it before. It started just as a simple curiosity because I had launched Calmaria.app for Android, a platform I have been working on for the past 5-6 years. I know a bit of Java and Kotlin and do most of my prototyping in Android Studio. However, I was always interested in learning something new.

Roser Padrés worked on this colorful branding and visual identity project for a timeless lighting system that offers a huge range of playful and experimental configurations. The lamp’s structure is made of bamboo with a concrete base, with the colorful wire curving around the lamp post. 

I love the direction web design is heading. It more and more resembles editorial design with focus on great typography and beautiful imagery. A good example of this is the web site created by Anthony Goodwin for Dan J Wills.

One day when contemplating a particularly awful break-up, lettering artist and illustrator Jessica Molina came up with an idea—what if she could send her ex a nasty letter? Better yet, what if she could create a series for all the frustrating exes of the world?

Elefante is a very popular and old Brazilian brand. It's definitely part of many people's lives, including mine. I grew up seeing my mom and grandmother using the cans of tomato sauce. Despite the popularity, every brand one day will be in need of an update.

Last April I decided to create a simple Android app for me to do a breathing exercise that consists of inhaling from your nose for four seconds, holding the air for seven and exhaling from your mouth for eight seconds. It’s a very simple, yet powerful way to oxygenate your body and brain and the by-product is relaxation. It does help me with anxiety and focus. I called the app Calmaria.
